Quotes Concentrate! -- Imbroglio by Alana Woods -- One of my better reads, the plot twists and turns starting from a very unexpected place. Normally a tale like this would follow the normal cliche ridden crime / legal drama storyline but I found I couldn't second guess where the tale was heading. One word of caution: it is a fairly involved read and occasionally I'd find myself flicking back a few pages to work out how I'd got there. The author has been compared to Grisham and I think that is fair although the book hasn't been made into a film yet which gives the former greater credence. Quotes

Quotes The Life You Save May Be Your Own -- Imbroglio, by Alana Woods -- If the title of my review seems far less original than that of the novel it explores, that's because there are some cliches that well-earn their familiarity. For example, if overheard conversations, mistaken and assumed identity, and misdirected letters (nowadays more prevalent as lost or stolen e-mail correspondence and hacked computer files) are not fresh enough for your taste in fiction, then the entire suspense/thriller genre probably isn't either. Alana Woods deploys them all--there's even a diary--but recombination is everything. Quotes Tapestries and other short stories -- How's about a little romance tale with a happy ending? Or perhaps another with a punch-in-the-gut jolt at the finale? They're right here. Would you prefer a really short one that'll make you laugh `til your eyes water and your sides hurt - so funny that you'll have to hang onto the chair arms to keep from falling over? I guarantee that you'll be yelling to whomever's in the next room, "Hey, you've just got to read this!" I did - after I got to where I could stop laughing. You'll have to buy the book and explore the very last yarn to find out what's there. I won't tell you more, except that you'll get pulled right into it, in a hurry. Alana Woods has given us a gem - a collection of wonderfully written short stories that will leave you asking for more. She's an extraordinarily imaginative author with a virtuoso's command of the language. Don't miss this one! Quotes

Quotes Imbroglio by Alana Woods -- Imbroglio is not, in my opinion, a book that you can read casually. Like with many Chris Nolan films, you need to invest all your time into the story and pay attention so that you don't miss important information and plot points. But, if you do, then you'll find a treat of a story and one that I am sure that will keep you hooked the whole time you read. This book not only requires your full attention - it deserves it. If a person like me, who doesn't generally read thrillers can enjoy this, it HAS to be a great read. Be sure to add this one to your "must read" list in the near future. Quotes 25 essential writing tips: guide to writing good fiction by Alana Woods -- There is so much advice around for would-be authors and most of it is perfectly correct but interminably boring. This excellent guide does what it says on the cover - sticks to the essentials. In 25 Essential Writing Tips, award-winning author Alana Woods provides a model of brevity, clarity and sound reasoning. This is a guide I would recommend to any aspiring author and several published ones who may be wondering why their works have failed to capture a readership. Quotes

Quotes Automaton by Alana Woods --- It's difficult to decide where to begin with 'Automaton'. This is an exemplary novel by a master of the craft. Set in Australia, it is so deep, so well written, so intelligently thought out and flows so smoothly that I felt like a participant and personal observer within the events, rather than a reader who was sitting comfortably in my office as the story unfolded. Woods' experience as a Court reporter makes her tale as authentic, intriguing and interesting as any you'll ever read. It's not a quick, shallow read - it's a real novel. Quotes Imbroglio by Alana Woods---You probably won't finish this novel in one sitting. You'll have to pay close attention to keep track of all the different players in the programme. If you relax your concentration for a moment, you'll have to go back and do it again or be lost. Alana Woods has written a tale that is filled to the brim with deception, criminal impersonation, betrayal, greed, exploitation, sexual manipulation, murder, and some just plain pretty rotten people. There's only one character in the entire bunch that I'd consider inviting over for Sunday dinner. You'll have figured out who it is when you get toward the end of the yarn. In short, it's exactly what any card-carrying crime fiction fan is looking for. Read the entire review on Amazon. Quotes

Quotes Automaton by Alana Woods. If you are looking for a book that has a great storyline, deep characters, action and intrigue, you need to read this. In Automaton, the author draws the reader in with descriptions so vivid you feel as though you are living the book. The main characters are people to be discovered and delved into. And once you discover them, you realize that things aren't always as they seem. The twists and turns of this book keep you on the edge of your seat wondering what will happen next. Just when you think you have everything figured out, your heart and mind will be gripped by the unfolding of events. This is a book for the intellectual and the romantic. Automaton gains my 5 stars and so does the author. Quotes

Quotes To avoid seeming biased I include this 1 star review of Automaton that appeared on Amazon recently. Alana Woods ---- Too slow. Too many characters. I could not withstand reading it and went directly from chapter 7 to 19. Suspicious 5 star reviews. Don't waste your money. Quotes

Quotes Imbroglio -- Yet another wonderful written book by Alana Woods -- I have learned that in order for me to enjoy a book I first need to enjoy the writer's style. It is rare for me to keep reading a particular author's line of books if I don't enjoy them or if the book doesn't keep me into the story. Well here I am, just finished Alana Woods Imbroglio. You just can't beat when an author has a movie playing in your head. Getting up the next day trying to make sense of the characters actions just to keep you wondering whats next. The story is gold, the style is platinum. It's a win win. I would recommend any of Alana Woods books. Quotes
