You know with some books how the words just flow off the page so easily and naturally that it’s like you’re sitting with the author listening to them talk? This is one of them. Jonna Ivin is a natural storyteller.
Hers certainly isn’t the worst life lived that I have read about, but it’s nonetheless been a difficult one; one that she has struggled against and ultimately survived. Self pity doesn’t rear its head in this revealing account of what it’s like to live with a myriad of negative influences including alcoholism, family tragedy, desperation, loss of faith, delusion and the kind of boyfriends we can all do without.
Having said that, to begin with I too wanted to lick Chris’ face.
After reading the final word of her story and the credits at the end—because they are an important part of the story—I sat back and thought a quiet ‘wow’.
This book deserves 5 stars.
